If they say no, you can either say>
1) You are familiar with the business aren't you? Or,
2) If you have other appointments in area>> How about (owners
name for other business) at (business name) who's also down the
street from you?
I'm meeting with them to show them how they can ________ and
since I'll be in your area on (schedule date) I have time from ____ to
____ to see you as well. (Owners name for other business) is really
excited about meeting with me to learn _____. Does ___ work for you
or would you like to meet prior to my meeting with (owners name for
other business) at _____?"
This allows the sales people to minimize their travel time and have
more appointments each day. And the name dropping lends them
creditability since after all, Bob at ABC Business down the street is meeting
with them.
They're found this to increase their leads by over triple!
They use the same approach when they get a lead from our other
marketing. They sort the list by address, click "Find By Key", enter the new
leads address to pull it up and then call the businesses around that business.
This turns that one lead into multiple leads. What a beautiful way of
decreasing your cost per lead and increasing your leads.
It's the same strategy with current clients. They'll call the businesses
located around their clients. (When I say  call the businesses, again we
found actually going to those businesses in person is more effective)
Three amazingly effective ways of generating more leads and sales. But,
without a list like this along with the database program to query your
records it's almost impossible to do these strategies!
Plus, by having the contact name of the business we re calling it's
like they were referred to us. We ask for the business owner by name
and tell him about our appointment with Bob at ABC Business & it comes
across like a referral.
We ve used these strategies with both phone calling them and in person
going business to business. Obviously in person works best. However, we
have had success with the phones too. And with the phone we can call more
people in an hour. But that s up to you to test.
Walk the streets. Get out there where you buying public is and start
talking to them. You ll be amazed at what you ll learn. And you ll be
impressed with how many more leads and sales you ll make.
Remember, this is the offline businesses playing field so you have to play
by their rules. An offline business (those with large ticket items and that
have sales people) would never in a million years hire some online
marketing person to just sit back and send emails to generate leads as their
only way of generating sales. They d go broke doing this!
Offline businesses hire outside sales people. This is how offline
businesses guarantee their success. Since you re playing in their playground
you need to play by their rules. They ll respect you more and you ll get a lot
further with them.
